An excellent opportunity to join our dynamic and fast paced Corporate Governance team. To be successful in this role you will be flexible, work well under pressure, and be comfortable working in a busy and confidential environment.

The Opportunity

As a Governance Officer you will play a crucial role in the provision of a high-quality company secretarial function for the University. You will be responsible for taking board-level minutes for both the Governing Body and the Senior Management Team. An ability to meet deadlines and operate discretely is key. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills.

You will have strong interpersonal skills with a willingness to build and maintain strong professional relationships to help promote good governance across the University. You will identify and arrange training for Governors and promote best governance practice to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations.

You will have an honours degree or equivalent relevant experience. Previous experience of providing board or c-suite level support, and/or a company secretarial qualification would also be advantageous.

How will you work?

We are committed to supporting flexible methods of working wherever possible and this role is flexible and connected. Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align to the needs of the Governing Body and the Senior Management Team. It is expected that there will be a relatively even balance between time spent on and off campus; but in most cases the work location will be determined by the service required or the tasks/activities being undertaken. Work will primarily be at the Canterbury Campus with occasional attendance at the Medway Campus.

In-person attendance at senior management team meetings (fortnightly) and governing body meetings (quarterly) is required.
