Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) is seeking an exceptional Professor of Engineering to take a lead role in driving and supporting the development of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment across our diverse educational portfolio, including undergraduate, postgraduate, CPD, and apprenticeship programmes. This strategic position will help shape, deliver, and refine curricula designed to produce industry-ready graduates and engineer-inclusive solutions that support regional, national, and international economies. Joining a diverse and collaborative team of engineers, you will build on our strengths in general, mechanical, chemical, biomedical, product design, architectural, and building services engineering, with a particular focus on advancing architectural and building services engineering.
You will also play a pivotal role in the continued growth of the Kent & Medway Engineering, Design, Growth and Enterprise (EDGE) Hub which is a unique initiative committed to inclusive design, sustainability, and industry collaboration. Embracing CDIO pedagogy and Engineering Habits of Mind, you will ensure alignment with professional body expectations while fostering interdisciplinary connections across computing, health, education, sport, and the arts. Ideally, you will bring a proven track record in course development and accreditation, research and enterprise activity, student recruitment, retention, and progression at regional, national, and international levels.
We are seeking a proven academic leader with substantial experience in Higher Education, including successful teaching, development and designing courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will bring evidence of research, industrial engagement, or knowledge exchange in engineering, alongside the experience of managing a suite of academic courses and leading diverse teams. A deep understanding of key sector metrics such as TEF, REF, and NSS is essential, as is a track record of securing professional body accreditation.
You will demonstrate strategic thinking, the ability to influence and lead change, and a strong commitment to enhancing teaching standards and quality assurance.
