Animal Management Technical Instructor

Where you’ll work: This role is based at Hadlow College campus.

Your hours: 37 hours per week (worked on a shift rota basis across 7 days of the week) / 52 weeks per annum.

Your pay: £23,985 - £26,215 per annum

North Kent College (including Hadlow College) is proudly rated as an Ofsted ‘Good’ provider, with ‘Outstanding’ learner behaviours and attitudes (April 2024). With four campuses across Kent and 4,000 students, we strive to equip the young people who study here with an inclusive and innovative education experience to enhance their future career prospects, which, as noted by Ofsted, is supported through our high-quality, industry standard facilities. Each and every staff member plays a key part in delivering the success of our learners’ experience, and we want those who join our curriculum and support teams to share our passion in achieving this.

Working within North Kent College’s Animal Management curriculum area, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitability qualified, experienced and passionate individual to join the team as an instructor.

Reporting to the Animal Unit Manager, the post holder is required to provide demonstration and practical instruction in the Animal Management curriculum as well as provide technical assistance to the teaching staff.  The postholder will also be responsible for maintaining the Animal Collection, including all areas of the animal management unit to ensure that they meet the highest standards as well as present a professional image to students, parents and external stakeholders.  The role will also require the post holder to support the animal unit manager in the ordering and management of equipment and consumables such as feed and bedding.

To be considered for this role, you will have the ability to work flexibly on a shift-rota basis with need to hold a minimum of Level 3 qualification in related area or equivalent, and a first aid certificate (or the willingness to obtain one upon appointment). It would also be advantageous if you have experience working with young people in an education environment.

You can look forward to excellent benefits, such as 33 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays in lieu (full time equivalent) based around shift rotation and enrolment onto the Local Government Pension Scheme which also includes life assurance. You’ll also benefit from free parking and have access to a range of onsite facilities, including a restaurant and coffee shop.

For a full job description and to apply, please visit North Kent College’s staff vacancies page.
The closing date for applications is Sunday 27th October 2024.

North Kent College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and all staff have a responsibility to share and maintain this commitment.
