The University has a vacancy for a part time Assistant Financial Accountant. The Financial Accounts team is responsible for the provision of a full range of accounting services including the production of timely management and statutory reports and taxation returns.

As an Assistant Financial Accountant the post holder will be responsible for supporting the Financial Accounts team in the delivery of an efficient and effective Financial Accounting service to the wider University. This includes providing support to the production of financial statements for the parent and subsidiary company, the annual audit, monthly management accounts, maintaining the fixed asset register, updating the prize fund accounts and generating VAT and other external returns.

The post holder will be expected to take part in the development, review and implementation of new and existing processes and procedures within the Financial Accounts team. They will be expected to develop technical accounting skills to a professional standard to ensure that accounting, audit and taxation reporting requirements are adhered to.

To be successful in this role you will have experience of financial reporting and accounting techniques, having worked in a finance department within a medium to large organisation. You will have an AAT qualification or be willing to work towards this.
