POSITION TITLE: QA Technical Support Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Quality Assurance - Fl UK

POSITION SUMMARY:


Receive, inspect and test incoming alloy powders, bases, chemical and metal raw materials and all FAI produced powders, bases and pastes. Ensure Fusion, Inc. and Fusion Automation, Inc. (FAI) specifications are met, results are logged and sample retains are maintained and disposed of properly. Verify data and prepare certificates Assist in the development of new customer products and processes, improvements to existing products and providing technical assistance to sales, customers and production.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receive all raw metals, alloy powders, binders, pastes and chemicals and log as required.
Review all certificates against F.I./FAI specifications for chemistry, particle size etc., file paperwork and enter data in appropriate computer records.
Sample purchased alloy powders and chemicals as required.
Release/reject all incoming material as appropriate and label accordingly.
Transfer above to appropriate location in storage area and maintain same in neat and orderly manner.
Log/receive alloy powder samples for analysis and send out to external lab with details of specification. Log/receive analysis results, review against F.A.I. specifications.
Prepare and issue release and non-conforming documentation, including blending instructions, for raw powders.
Conduct sieve analyses on powders, record results and release / reject as appropriate. Maintain equipment in good order, re-ordering sieves as required.
Enter all powder data in the computer and maintain paperwork files. Maintain powder sample retains in a neat and orderly manner.
Conduct viscosity tests on bases and pastes and any non-standard tests e.g. cold flow, draw down.
Review batch sheets to ensure math, Lot No. etc. are correct and release/reject as appropriate. Ensure equipment is kept in good working order and coordinate shipment of viscometers for periodic calibration. Maintain calibration records.
Maintain paste sample retains in a neat and orderly manner.
Prepare certificates (COC, COA) ensuring adherence to customer specifications.
Prepare paste specification cards for production.
Receive and log in reject material. Mix samples per specification and maintain sample log.
Dispose of paste, powder and binder retains [in accordance with retention times] and lab samples in a proper manner.
Seek opportunities for continuous process improvement as a commitment to the quality policy.
Maintain work area in a neat and orderly manner and adhere to prescribed safety rules and regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
Quality/technical liason with Fl.
Process non-conforming material without impacting the final product.
Monitor issues with pastes and provide solutions and modify work orders if needed.
The decision to release material outside of its usual shipping spec.
Main quality point of contact for customer complaints.
Commit to following the Quality Policy established procedures and guidelines as required by ISO 9001 :2008 standards
Responsible for updating customer complaints in synergy
Testing customers retuned product
Responsible for the Lab, testing equipment selection and calibration.
Directs production on the processing of and release of NCMR material
Handle quality queries from production regarding pastes, bases and alloys
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
GCSE in English and Math, or equivalent.
Computer literacy in Word and Excel.
Specialized training in handling hazardous materials and applicable lab equipment usage.
Ability to lift heavy weights [25kg] and occasionally to move heavier items, 205 litre drum of base.
Proven ability to exercise sound judgment as to method of testing and evaluating results. Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills.
