About the role

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Customer Account Manager to join QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) within our Commercial Team. QTS is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC, specialising in the design and manufacture of a range of state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems, including the world-leading Banshee target.

QTS targets are used to enable realistic weapons test and evaluation and operator training in over 40 countries worldwide, with QTS providing a complete managed service in over 15 of these countries.

What will I be doing?

Reporting to the Senior Customer Account Manager, you will assist the Customer Account Managers and Senior Customer Account Managers in the liaison with customers around the world in respect of technical and sales support, and will ensure that QTS internal activities meet customer requirements while aligning tasks with company policies and procedures.

You may also be responsible for designated customers and projects and will engage internal resources to ensure projects are delivered on time and aligned with project requirements and objectives. During this process you will apply professional principles, practices and techniques to lead projects while controlling cost, performance and risk.

Duties will include:

Maintain contact with existing QTS customers and inform them of new or improved products and services to aid customer service.
Act as a liaison between customers and QTS, address and resolve technical and support issues raised or identified for the customer.
Act as Customer Account Manager for designated customers and projects.
Plan, coordinate, implement and finalise projects according to specifications and deadlines, while keeping within budget.
Maintain knowledge of competitors’ products and services.
Receive customer enquiries and prepare proposals in response.
Review Requests for Proposal (RFPs). Liaise with the relevant departments with regard to contractual, field services, production, quality, and design requirements. Generate proposals based on information gathered including pricing, contractual and time schedule requirements. Obtain authorisation and arrange submission of proposals.
Ensure that customer complaints are dealt with swiftly in accordance with standard company procedures.
Liaise with customers to arrange in-country sales/support visits to discuss future requirements and assist in the provision of product presentations.
Complete customer support visit reports, listing the itinerary of the visit and detailing any important information.
Attend any necessary training courses relating to QTS products and services.
To identify to the Senior Customer Account Manager any professional training that would benefit both QTS and individual members of staff.
To maintain sufficient awareness gained through experience of QTS products to interpret and interface with procurement and contractual levels of personnel.
Maintain accurate forecast and sales data on CRM system.

What do I need?

You will have significant customer service experience and excellent communication skills.

You’ll have an understanding of finance and commercial contracts and have experience in the management of CRM systems.

We also ask that you:

Have Project management skills
Are proficient in the Microsoft Office packages
Have good attention to detail
Demonstrate a high level of ethical behaviour in exercising judgement and discretion in matters of significance.
Have experience in general administration
Have experience in the generation of commercial proposals

Ideally you will be qualified to HND level, and a knowledge of radio-controlled model aircraft, boats, cars or camera drones would be an advantage.
