Lecturer in Photography
  £19,076.40 – £24,172.20 per annum pro rata
  Dartford, Kent
  permanent,part-time

Lecturer in Photography

Where you’ll work: This role is based at the College’s Dartford campus.

Your hours: 22.2 hours per week, 52 weeks per annum.

Your pay:£19,076.40 – £24,172.20 per annum pro rata (£31,794 – £40,287 per annum full time equivalent), depending on teaching and other qualifications and experience.

North Kent College (including Hadlow College) is proudly rated as an Ofsted ‘Good’ provider, with ‘Outstanding’ learner behaviours and attitudes (April 2024). With four campuses across Kent and 4,000 students, we strive to equip the young people who study here with an inclusive and innovative education experience to enhance their future career prospects, which, as noted by Ofsted, is supported through our high-quality, industry standard facilities. Each and every staff member plays a key part in delivering the success of our learners’ experience, and we want those who join our curriculum and support teams to share our passion in achieving this.

Working within North Kent College’s Photography curriculum area, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitability qualified, dynamic, and passionate individual to join the team as Lecturer in Photography. You will be forward thinking and have industry experience, with a desire to be part of a team that takes the area forward with its new facilities to deliver an exciting, industry relevant curriculum to our young photographers.

You’ll be required to prepare, teach and assess at a variety of levels, providing support and guidance to your learners as they progress through their studies.

You’ll have specialist knowledge of the curriculum area, which may be enhanced by any relevant industry / professional experience, as well as a formal qualification that underpins this knowledge.

We need you to be a team player and an excellent communicator, able to maintain a proactive approach and an eye for detail whilst working to challenging deadlines.

Whilst teaching experience, particularly within Further Education, would be advantageous, this isn’t essential. Likewise, although a full teaching qualification (at Level 5 or above) isn’t required at this stage, you would need to secure this within 3 years of appointment.

In return, we’ll give you 42 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata for part time contracts), and you’ll be enrolled onto the Teachers’ Pension Scheme which also includes life assurance. You’ll also benefit from free parking and have access to a range of onsite facilities including a nursery (Dartford and Gravesend campuses), restaurants and coffee shops.

For a full job description and to apply, please visit North Kent College’s staff vacancies page.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 30th June.

North Kent College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and all staff have a responsibility to share and maintain this commitment. In line with the requirements of ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, appropriate safeguarding checks (including an enhanced DBS check) will be undertaken on all individuals selected for appointment. Posts at the College, a specified establishment where the work gives opportunity for contact with children, are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to complete and submit prior to their interview a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children.
