We are looking for a proactive and dynamic Teaching Assistant to provide support for pupils who have a range of particular needs in our Primary Phase. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a new 2-form entry provision in an expanding and well-established academy.

This is the perfect position to make a real difference in the development of pupils; you will be working in the classroom and implementing programmes of support designed especially to meet their needs. The role is ideal for a new or established colleague who aspires to grow and develop as an outstanding Teaching Assistant and also great for those who are considering teacher training in the future. Our successful candidate will be based in the Primary Phase of an all-through academy which provides a wide range of CPD opportunities.

The successful candidate will:

Be aware of and support school policies and procedures.
Work, or play, with individuals, or small groups of children, to assist in the delivery of the planned curriculum, as directed by the Class Teacher.
Set up group activities under the guidance of the Class Teacher / Subject Leaders. Work with children on practical activities, giving assistance and encouragement.
Read to, and with, small groups of children, on curriculum activities.
Assist in the planning, creation and mounting of displays of the children’s work.
Provide support and assistance for children’s pastoral needs (e.g. promoting self-esteem, and overall well-being of the child
Be prepared to work across all age ranges within the Primary School.
The successful candidate will have:

The ability to carry out designated tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
The ability to work as part of a team.
The ability to be creative and use initiative to engage children.
The ability to work under pressure, with enthusiasm, motivation and commitment.
Strong listening skills and the ability to prioritise, manage time effectively and remain calm under pressure.
Strong verbal and communication skills appropriate to the need to communicate effectively with a wide range of pupils, colleagues and parents.
This is a permanent position that offers an actual salary of £17,367 per annum (£23,114 full-time equivalent), working 32.5 hours per week, term time + 1 week of inset. The working hours will be 8.45 am - 3.15 pm, Monday to Friday.

Note that whilst the position is offered on a maternity cover basis initially of up to one year, every effort will be made to offer a substantive position thereafter, either at The Hundred of Hoo Primary Academy or within the wider family of academies across Leigh Academies Trust. The central Recruitment Team will keep in touch with you throughout your contract to discuss options available to you.
