Background

The Admissions Team sits within the Directorate of Marketing and Communications.

Within the Directorate, Admissions delivers a high-quality service to enquirers, applicants, and their advisers. Admissions is responsible for:

Operating fair, transparent and responsive admissions, and selection policies to deliver an excellent applicant experience.
Managing admissions processes to achieve agreed student number recruitment targets.
Providing professional leadership and advice on all admissions activities including to those parts of the University that have delegated responsibility in these areas.
Planning and managing confirmation and clearing.
Overseeing and contributing to ongoing UKVI Student Route compliance activities.

The Role

We are seeking to appoint an Admissions Officer to join a small team dealing with applications from students based both within and outside the UK to the University’s programmes. The post holder will provide a professional admissions service, involving the receipt, scrutiny and processing of all applications relating to the assigned University audience, and assessing them in relation to agreed criteria and timescales.

The post holder will also work closely with the Compliance and Student Systems teams to effectively utilise the University’s information management systems, providing a seamless applicant journey from enquiry to enrolment. They will also maintain contact and an effective professional relationship with a number of internal stakeholders in the University’s faculties.

The Person

You will be a team player with relevant experience in a busy administrative environment. We are looking for someone who has excellent customer service skills and is able to contribute to the wider team whilst working independently. A high level of attention to detail and good communication skills are essential requirements, as is the ability to quickly acquire and utilise knowledge of University and sector procedures, structures and regulatory frameworks.

Desirable requirements: An interest in working in the Higher Education sector, particularly in admissions, would also be welcomed.

How will I work?

Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align to the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders. It is expected that there will be a relatively even balance between time spent on and off campus; but in most cases the work location will be determined by the service required or the tasks/activities being undertaken.
