The Social justice Network Officer is a new, exciting and unique role at the Diocese, as you will lead the operational delivery of our fundraising, marketing, project and events management strategy to help tackle social justice issues throughout the Diocese.

As Social justice Network Officer you will project manage Break the Cycle, a key project within the Social Justice Network (SJN), whilst also planning and implementing fundraising for Connecting Canterbury, Refugee work, Places of Welcome and any other projects identified by the Trustees.

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Social Justice Network and working closely with colleagues and partners in the Diocese, churches and other relevant networks, you will proactively approach and build relationships with fundraisers for the purposes of securing donations to the network, including pro-bono contributions.

Taking joint responsibility for the facilitation and project management of the SJN events, you will identify, research and source speakers and special guests. Liaising frequently with the Diocesan Media and Engagement Team to organise event publicity, you will also ensure a constantly active and interesting social media and web presence for all projects within the SJN.

In addition, you will provide operational and administrative support to the Network board, delivering quarterly reports and creating quarterly newsletters for funders, partners, supporters and stakeholders.

With a good standard of education and excellent fundraising capabilities, you should have communications and project management knowledge and have the ability to deliver effective and engaging branded events.

A natural communicator with outstanding interpersonal skills and a flair for creativity, you should also be able to form excellent working relationships and interact confidently and appropriately with a wide range of people.

You should also be a person in sympathy with the mission and ethos of the Christian Church, the Church of England, the Diocese of Canterbury and the vision and values of our church schools.

This is a part-time, permanent position of 28 hours per week. Hours will typically be during the working week but does require attendance at meetings and some co-working in around the Diocese, with occasional out of office hours.

The Social Justice Network is part of the Diocese of Canterbury with the aim of bringing people together. Issues of low income, debt, lack of skills, poor mental health, refugee status and isolation are complex and closely interlinking, trapping communities and individuals in a web of poverty. Our vision is to see all churches, in every community, coming together to tackle these issues through action, prayer and giving.

We aim to deliver work through innovative partnerships with other charities, voluntary organisations, and local authorities. We aim to improve access to resources, make local work more effective, and create a framework for others to respond to the social challenges in Kent.
