We're currently looking for a dedicated Housing Association Youth Network Violence Affecting Young People Project Manager (Housing and Communities lead) to join our team at Clarion Futures.
The main purpose of the role is to strengthen and develop violence prevention initiatives using specialist knowledge of housing and developing relationships between statutory bodies, housing associations and voluntary and community groups.
Who we are
The Housing Association Youth Network - Violence Affecting Young People sub-group (HAYN VAYP) is a consortia of housing associations across London who have joined together to utilise their assets, connections, and influence to develop programmes to keep young people safe in London. The HAYN VAVP have identified 7 priority boroughs in which they will focus their work - Brent, Hackney, Islington, Lambeth, Southwark, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.
The London Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) is a team of specialists who bring people across London together to better understand why violence happens and to take action to prevent it now, and in the long-term. Our approach is rooted in prevention and early intervention, and we are a champion and a voice for young people and communities across London
What you'll be doing
This role will involve close working with the VRU, HAYN VAVP sub-group and local authorities to drive forward the important role housing associations play in working to reduce violence affecting young people.
The VRU currently oversee and support the development of Violence and Vulnerability Action Plans in each of the 32 London Boroughs. These plans are developed by each local authority and map the activity taking place across the borough under a range of focus area from prevention through to enforcement.
A key purpose of this role will be to strengthen, develop and embed greater housing connections with both the My Ends consortia and the Violence and Vulnerability Action Plans.
The HAYN VAYP Project Manager (Housing and Communities Lead ) s a role jointly managed by both Clarion Housing Group and the VRU. The post holder will be expected to work two days per week from the VRU Offices at Union Street, SE1.
What you'll need
The ideal candidate will come to us with experience and knowledge of the Housing sector, its common practices and legislation with a clear understanding of issues faced by young people living in social housing and how this can negatively impact on their well - being.
With knowledge of violence prevention with specific expertise and experience of violence reduction, you'll also have knowledge and experience of working the Community Investment functions within housing associations and a demonstrable understanding of their role and involvement in addressing VAYP issues.
