The Delivery Director Role at RDT
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role is to lead the Project and Programme Delivery functions across RDT.
You will be responsible for ensuring all RDT projects and programmes are delivered to time, scope and budget. You will drive delivery ethos across the organisation and will own the way we work together.
As Delivery Director, you will ensure that all projects are properly executed from end to end working alongside Technology, Software Services, Product Owners and the Managed Service teams.
You will define standards of delivery control documentation, including requirements documentation, work plans, timelines, budgets, resource plans, risk management and knowledge transfer plans.
What you’ll be doing
You will have the following responsibilities:
As Delivery Director you own and lead on: -
• Overseeing a portfolio of projects across software delivery, technology operations and from time to time other internal projects
• Ensuring all projects and programmes have appropriate controls and reporting to the Executive and to our customers
• Embedding a Scaled Agile delivery methodology
• Developing excellence within your direct reports (which will consist of Delivery Managers, SCRUM Masters and Programme Managers) and acting as a point of escalation for them
• Internal communication across all RDT teams
• Ensuring our clients are confident in the way RDT execute projects and programmes
• Baselining delivery KPIs and ensuring that these are supported with continual improvement plans
You collaborate with: -
• The Service Director who manages BAs, QAs and the PMO
• The Head of Managed Service who manages our live customers and the services we provide them
• Various Technology functions including teams representing Architecture, Platform and IT
• The Account Management team who manage client relationships
• Our customers, often at a senior level
What we need from you
Qualifications & Experience:
• Excellent Leadership skills; with a proven track record of leading and delivering within a technology-led environment
• Proven track record and multi-year experience in leading large scale technology programmes and/or portfolios, encompassing multiple project teams and utilising Lean-Agile mindsets with Scrum & Kanban
• Expert-level understanding and experience of Agile and DevOps mindsets and the practices that support them
• Experience in working in a senior delivery role within a customer-facing environment
• Strong financial and commercial acumen
• Strong risk management understanding: with emphasis on the risks that should be considered/mitigated on Agile project deliveries in a commercial environment
• Strong team management techniques, particularly around governance, project health, when to intervene, and ensuring quality
• Evidence of strategic thinking and understanding
• Insurance industry knowledge would be advantageous
