Our client is one of the leading logistics specialists for temperature-controlled logistics worldwide , and they are currently looking for an experienced Senior Customs Forwarder to join their team in Stanford-le-Hope.

You will be there to ensure that all import/export and customs activities and the associated procedures are carried out in accordance with customer agreements and the agreed policy, at the lowest cost and with the best possible results.

We are looking to speak with candidates that have a minimum 5 years demonstrable professional experience in a comparable role.

Main duties of the Senior Customs Forwarder:


Taking care of the daily operational activities and issues.

Instructing, guiding, co-ordinating, controlling and assessing tasks and performance of activities in the absence of the manager or team coordinator.

Acting as a helpdesk for the team with regard to professional knowledge.

Preparing and completing of import and export files with all associated customs documents required.

Reaching agreements with customers on shipments and in accordance with these agreed arrangements accepting, overseeing, handling and organising shipments.

Ensuring the timely and correct preparation (forwarding) of papers, documents and information.

Issuing instructions to colleagues and carriers by reference to the cargo documentation.

Preparing letters of complaint and petitions concerning customs regulations.

Independently checking of tariff headings for customs duties, agricultural levies, VAT and similar.

Advising and informing customers on shipping and customs formalities.

Preventing, observing and dealing with irregularities and problems concerning processes, procedures, work instructions and systems.

Supervising the Junior Customs Forwarder's Import/Export.

Applying relevant expertise and up-to-date laws and regulations.

Requirements for the Senior Customs Forwarder role:


Minimum Qualifications A Level Grade B (or equivalent) or higher in Maths and English and at least two other academic subjects.

Vocational training as a declarant (UK Customs Academy level 4).

Knowledge of current and relevant laws and regulations.

Outstanding spoken and written English.

Broad knowledge and experience of modern software applications, including MS Office.
