Skilled care staff required for on going assignment supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism

Your new company

Hays are working alongside a well-established charity that specialises in providing support for those with Learning Disabilities and Autism. This charity encourages their clients to challenge what they expect from life and overcome barriers to achieve more in life. At present we are looking for skilled Care staff to work via the agency to support this organisation on an ongoing basis.


Your new role

We are looking to speak to applicants who have experience supporting adults with learning disabilities, specifically autism. We are looking for the right person who is calm, patient and positive to join an existing team. You will be supporting the clients lead the life they want to and to encourage clients to become more confident. You will generally be working on a 2:1 or 1:1 basis.


* To work as part of a team and be values driven
* Engage with and follow support plan
* Follow key behaviour strategies and feedback on the effectiveness of these
* Be resilient, positive and professional
* Use own initiative and think of solutions


What you'll need to succeed

We are looking for drivers so you must hold a valid driving licence and have a willingness to drive a vehicle.


* For an immediate start to be possible you will ideally be signed up to the DBS update service
* A minimum of 6 months experience within a similar care setting in the last 2 years (Hays must gain references to cover this experience).
* Experience in assisting with medication, preparing meals and supporting independence
* Experience with providing support and care to adults with learning disabilities.
* NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 are desirable but not vital.
* The sensitivity required to provide a trusting and stimulating environment along with being passionate about supporting people.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to be a good team player
* A genuine desire to make a real difference in people's lives
* You will be positive and willing to create and follow a personalised service to every individual that you support.
* Be available to support in whatever capacity is required by an individual to nurture their path to independence.
