Finance Manager | Tonbridge / Hybrid Working | 55-65k
We are working in partnership with an exciting service business in West Kent that are looking to appoint a commercially focussed Finance Manager, to run not only the day to day finance of one of their group companies, but also work as part of the senior management team in agreeing business direction, cost saving initiatives and strategy. A key part of the role will also involve reviewing current processes and controls and implemented better ways of working.
Managing a team of two and working closely with the MD, the Finance Manager will take full responsibility for the management of all transactional activity within the business, as well as producing monthly management accounts and liaising with auditors to produce annual statutory accounts.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a role your own, add value from a commercial perspective and take ownership of the day to day finances of a business. The role offers hybrid working, strong visibility to key stakeholders and is a great role either for an experienced Finance Manager or someone looking to step up, who possesses the right attitude and skills.
Key areas of responsibility
• Acting as a key member of the senior management team, providing input at meetings on business performance, areas of risk / opportunity
and cost saving potential.
• Produce monthly flash accounts and production of final management accounts.
• Supporting the annual budgeting process, including quarterly re-forecasting.
• Provide senior management with accurate, up to date financial information as and when required, as well as analysis and commentary.
• Project work, including review of current processes and controls, implementing new and better ways of working and adopting a
continuous improvement approach.
• Play key role in migration of financial accounting records from Sage to the new system.
• Analyse, allocate and recharge (where necessary) expenditure from company credit cards program.
• Organise, check and authorise payment runs, being mindful of cash flow and supplier expectations.
• Investigate and resolve intercompany trade and funding.
• Deal with year-end audit queries and assist external auditors with preparation of statutory accounts within target deadlines.
• Liaise with other departments to produce monthly work in progress schedule.
• Manage and monitor output of a team of 2.
• Manage Purchase Ledger workflow and act as authoriser of expenditure being released to the purchase ledger.
• Analyse payroll data (from outsourced service) to ensure net pay, HMRC payments, pension payments are allocated to the correct
departmental codes and recharged where appropriate.
Candidate Profile
Candidates will be formally qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and have broad core finance experience, together with a commercially focussed approach. In addition, previous experience reviewing and implementing processes and controls would be highly advantageous, together with strong Excel skills, a ‘hands on’ and problem solving / pro-active approach.
