Our client, one of the largest suppliers to schools, nurseries, public sector organisations and businesses in the UK, is looking for a new Business Development Manager.
The Role
The Business Development Manager role is very strategic, managing and maintaining both new and existing business across a multitude of channels. The successful candidate will have the autonomy to shape the division and create a high performing culture along with developing a number of CVPs (Customer Value Proposition) depending on channel and customer type.
Key Duties
* The BDM will work closely with both the Marketing SLT and field sales SLT to develop sales strategies for the various channels the company operates in.
* There will be a need for a proactive sales & marketing plan for profitable revenue growth for the company proposition within key channels such as MATs (Multi Academy trusts), associations/LEAs, furniture solutions and re-sellers.
* Operate a consultative selling approach with the emphasis on building strong long lasting relationships in both B2C, B2B & B2G business channels.
* Work closely with in-house with other sales and functional department as well as across all divisions.
* Develop a national sales strategy, in line with the overall business objectives, to achieve organisational sales objectives, OI, revenue and profit.
* Setting individual sales targets with each team member.
* Delegate responsibility for customer channels and accounts focusing on existing and new business.
* Create account plan packs with set KPIs and measures.
* Responsible for performance management of the team and the individuals.
* Ensure your team has the necessary resources to perform effectively.
* Monitor the achievement of set objectives by the team.
* Conduct regular weekly field accompaniments with sales individuals.
* Provide feedback, support and coaching to the sales team.
* Create and develop sales presentations and proposals.
* Track, collate and interpret sales figures with absolute focus on daily performance achievement - OI and Revenue.
* Forecast annual, quarterly and monthly sales revenue.
The Candidate
* Education Market Knowledge
* B2B, B2C & B2G
* Experience of developing business at all levels and managing a range of customer types
* First-hand experience in managing salespeople
* Experience in field sales, telesales and generating new opportunities
* Ability to coach and performance manage
* Understanding of sales cycles and managing pipelines throughout their lives
* GCSE English and maths or equivalent
* Strong IT Skills with good knowledge of all Microsoft Software
