Adhoc Ongoing Support Workers needed for a large care client with services in Maidstone and surrounding areas
Your new company
One of the country's largest care providers are seeking support workers to support their permanent staff across their residential homes in Ashford. They are looking to bolster their team across the Ashford area with a number of agency staff. This company currently provides care across the UK to adults with learning disabilities, mental health conditions and sensory impairments. They offer a welcoming environment with skilled and experienced staff and management.
Your new role
You will work within a friendly team offering care to adults with complex/dual diagnosis learning difficulties. You will be required to give personal care including washing and dressing. Due to the complex needs of the residents you may experience challenging behaviour and a loud working environment due to the way residents communicate. You will be required to be flexible with your availability as they are looking to cover a variety of different late and early shifts throughout the week. Depending on your shift pattern your duties will vary but you will typically be providing support for each individual based on their individual care plan.
What you'll need to succeed
* A minimum of 6 months experience within a similar care setting in the last 2 years (Hays must gain references to cover this experience).
* Experience and willingness to provide a high level of personal care (helping to wash, toilet, dress and assisting with meals).
* Experience in administering medication, preparing meals and planning and partaking in activities
* Experience with providing support and care to adults with learning disabilities.
* NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 are desirable but not vital.
* The sensitivity required to provide a trusting and stimulating environment along with being passionate about supporting people.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to be a good team player
* A genuine desire to make a real difference in people's lives
* You will be positive and willing to create and follow a personalised service to every individual that you support.
* Be available to support in whatever capacity is required by an individual to nurture their path to independence.
What you'll get in return
Flexible working options available.
* Competitive hourly pay rate available
* Dedicated Hays consultant
* DBS support if you are not on the update service
* Free mandatory training and access to additional online training courses
* Potential opportunity to secure a long-term or permanent position with this organisation
* Opportunity to work with other Hays clients on an adhoc basis
