About the role: The Leigh UTC Academy are looking for Exam Invigilators to join our existing team to assist with all internal and public examinations. This is a very important role and you will be a highly valued member of the examinations team. The ideal candidate will be well organised, an excellent communicator, have experience of supervising children and be flexible. Whilst experience is preferred, full training will be provided for the successful candidate.

This is position offers £9.77 per hour, variable hours which will be agreed in advance. The successful candidate will join us as soon as possible.

What we expect from you: The main purpose of this role is to supervise examinations and to ensure that guidelines and regulations for the integrity and security of the examination papers and procedures are followed during examination sessions. Typically duties include the following;

To ensure a calm environment to give the candidates the best possible exam experience.
To set up the examination rooms as determined by the Data and Exams Manager.
To be aware of any needs that candidates may have during an examination.
To ensure that no inappropriate/not allowed items are brought into an examination room.
To ensure that candidates follow regulations of an exam room and to be vigilant at all times.
Ensure all candidates are aware of the information and of any notice that may affect them.
To ensure all candidates are seated according to the seating plan provided.
To ensure all candidates receive appropriate exam question papers and answer papers.
To record attendance on the appropriate attendance register.
To ensure that there is no talking or disruption for the candidates once an exam has begun.
To ensure answer scripts are collected, sorted into candidate number order and supervised as required, passing them safely to the Exams Manager for dispatch.
To maintain security and confidentiality at all times.
To highlight any concerns or issues to the Exams Manager.
To assist in other activities as may reasonably be requested by the centre from time to time.



Working with us: Having opened in September 2014 with state-of-the-art facilities originally for Key Stage 4 and 5, The Leigh UTC provides an exciting, innovative, business-led, problem-solving curriculum, enabling students to achieve relevant work-related qualifications and transferable skills for future training or employment. The most unique feature of The Leigh UTC is its business ethos that are emphasised by our students' behaviours and supported by our sponsors.

In September 2017, following the request of the Department for Education due to our continued success, The Leigh UTC marked history by expanding its student intake to incorporate Key Stage 3 – the first UTC in the UK to do this. Furthermore, being the first UTC to have IB World School Status has enabled us to develop strong links in Germany and Qatar. Having IB Status will enable us to further develop the mid-years programme (MYP) for our Key Stage 3 students and thus providing a joined-up pathway from ages 11 to 19. The overarching mission of the Inspiration Academy is to develop curious, academically-skilled young people who aspire to be principled, compassionate learners. Our curriculum strives to create students who are self-motivated, competent, willing to take risks and lifelong learners.

Our key successes and features that our successful candidate can be part of are as follows;

The promotion of pupils’ personal development and welfare is outstanding.
Pupils, including the disadvantaged and those who have special educational needs and/or disabilities, catch up from previous underachievement and make strong and often rapid progress in a range of subjects and disciplines

Being part of Leigh Academies Trust: As of 1st September 2021, our Trust comprises 31 geographically organised academies (15 secondaries, 14 primaries and 2 special) educating 20,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff. The Trust is establishing four ‘clusters’ of academies: North West Kent; Central Kent; South East London; Medway. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region’s biggest initial teaching training organisations, a large teaching school hub and is an accredited apprenticeship provider.
