Do you have experience of either teaching or advice work in adult, further or higher education and the expertise to support students to develop effective study and learning strategies?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as a Student Learning Adviser and contribute to supporting learner independence, development and achievement at the University of Kent. Putting to use your knowledge of current theory and practice of teaching and learning in higher education, you will design, deliver and evaluate induction, transition and achievement initiatives for all levels of students from all disciplines and modes of study.

This is a student-focused role that requires you to understand barriers to student learning and success and to work collaboratively with colleagues and the wider University to deliver objectives.

As Student Learning Adviser you will:


  • design, develop, deliver and evaluate a range of seminars, workshops and individual advice sessions as well as online and physical learning resources

  • undertake and apply research in the area of learning development innovation

  • proactively advertise the Student Learning Advisory Service including via welcome fairs and marketing events



To be successful in this role you will have:

  • experience of supporting students in the development of effective study and learning strategies

  • experience of either teaching or advice work in adult, further or Higher Education

  • an understanding of Widening Participation and Accessibility in Higher Education

  • effective and proven communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
