Summary of Job
To work as a team member to deliver high quality person centred care, in a way that respects the dignity of the individual, promoting independence and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
• To work continually in your designated zones to enable you to build good relationships with your residents. (Consistent Assignment)
• Assist residents with all aspects of their person care whilst maintaining the privacy and dignity of the residents at all times.
• To assist residents in using their personal mobility aids whilst ensuring that their aids are well maintained.
• Assist with social activities by interacting with residents helping them to continue with their hobbies and activities in the Home.
• To escort the residents to and from the Home as necessary.
• To understand, contribute to and be familiar with the residents’ person centred care plans and report any changes to a senior staff member.
• To complete accurate and effective written records in the residents care plan and diet folder as instructed in line with Glendale Lodge’s policies and procedures.
• Assist residents during mealtimes in accordance with their care plan and serve meals and drinks as required.
• To answer the nurse call system promptly and give assistance as required.
• To attend and participate in staff and residents meetings as required.
• To attend mandatory training and other training identified to enable you to fulfil your role. This is compulsory and may involve travel to other venues.
• To attend supervisions and appraisal meetings as required.
• Any other duties that are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job role that are requested by your senior.
General
• To implement the Equal Opportunities Policy into your daily activities.
• To be familiar with the Home’s Fire Policy and Evacuation procedures.
• To report to the appropriate person, any accidents or illnesses of an infectious nature suffered by a resident, colleague, yourself or other persons that could have an impact on the Home.
• To report to the appropriate person any significant incidents, faulty appliances, furniture or equipment or any potential hazard including spillages.
• To ensure the security of the Home is maintained at all times, including verifying the identification of any visitors and checking that they have signed in out of the Home.
• To be responsible for your own Health & Safety and that of your colleagues in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and relevant directives, including reporting any Health & Safety hazard immediately you become aware of it.
• To respect resident’s confidentiality, recognising when information of a sensitive nature needs to be shared in an appropriate manner and work in accordance with the GDPR regulations.
• To promote and ensure the good reputation of the Home and organisation at all times.
