Customer Service Representative (Collections)

What you’ll do

As part of our busy contact centre you’ll be making and receiving calls from our customers to talk to them about missed payments on any of the products we service for the Provident Group to help them get back on track.  Your first 12 weeks with us are spent coaching and training you on the role so that you have all the tools you need to succeed. You will be speaking with our customers to deliver an outstanding service at all times.

Although the role does involve talking to customers about their outstanding payments, it is really important that we do that in the right way.  Delivering an outstanding service at all times you’ll make sure that you understand our customers’ individual situations so we can provide them with the best solution and ensure we’re helping to put them on a path to a better everyday life.  This is a busy phone-based role, so you must feel comfortable talking to customers over the phone all day.

It’s important for you to know that you will be working shifts which include some evenings and weekends (the current shift pattern is attached for you).

What you’ll bring

CUSTOMER SERVICE… that’s essential. If you’ve got previous experience in a bank or in a contact centre that’s great but if not, don’t worry.  Having previous customer service experience either face to face or over the phone is a great starting point.  What’s most important is that you’re a true customer champion who works hard to get the best outcome for every single person you speak with.

What’s in it for you?

A competitive starting salary of £20,000. This is negotiable depending on the experience you bring to the role. We also offer a discretionary annual bonus, as well as:

Competitive holiday entitlement – with one day accrued for each year of service (to max 30 days) plus Bank Holidays
Extensive opportunities for personal and career development
Perks at Work - A perks platform offering over 30,000 unique discounts
Free tea, coffee and fruit (at the office)
Discounted gym membership
Subsidised on-site restaurants

Where you’ll work

You’ll start your journey with us working from home and your training will be delivered remotely, but we will be asking colleagues to start returning to our offices in Chatham, Kent very soon, so watch this space!

We know that by having a better, more inclusive culture and a diverse group of colleagues, we can support our customers and each other in the best way possible. We also believe this goes a long way to helping us live our purpose and defines why we’re here in the first place: to help put people on a path to a better everyday life.

We’re an equal opportunities employer and we want people to join us no matter how they identify, their sexual orientation, marital or civil partner status, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, disability or age.

We want to attract and retain the best people. So, we make sure that, if people need it, they’re given all the extra support and reasonable adjustments to take part in any part of our application or interview process. We’ve also got lots of colleagues who choose to work flexibly, so please feel free to talk to us about how you prefer to work at any time.

We think that if you can Be Yourself in the workplace, you’ll do your best work and enjoy being part of the team. And as a business we get to benefit from that and to celebrate all the wonderful things that diversity brings.

Good luck!
