We are working with Ashford Borough Council to recruit a Housing Options to provide members of the public with expert, professional, comprehensive advice and information on all aspects of housing for approximately 4 months.

The role will involve investigating and attempting to resolve landlord/tenants disputes and family breakdowns, by seeking to conciliate wherever possible, ensuring that all relevant parties are aware of their rights, responsibilities and remedies, to in order to prevent homelessness. You will create action plans which are robust enough to be used, as evidence in any review or legal proceedings, and create processes that ensure the Council meets its statutory functions under the Homelessness Regulation Act. In addition, proactively identify the housing options available for the public to empower them to prevent homelessness.

You must have a practical working knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation, such as the Housing Act 1996; Homelessness Code of Guidance; Protection from Eviction Act 1977 and Deregulation Act 2015 and Homelessness Reduction Act. A minimum of 2 years' experience of working in homelessness and housing advice, or a housing related field. Ideally you will be a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing desirable.

The role is subject to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
