Vacancy: Health & Safety Officer
Location: Marden, Kent, TN12 9QD
Role:
An exciting new opportunity has arisen within the Burtons Group of Companies for a motivated individual to develop, maintain and protect health and safety standards in accordance with current health and safety legislation.
The Burtons Group of Companies are client focused and manufacture, service and sell within the medical, veterinary and animal care sector.
Based at Guardian Industrial Estate, Marden and reporting directly to the Chairman you will be responsible for health and safety compliance and implementation across the Group of Companies which employs c.160 staff. A suitably qualified candidate may also oversee the implementation of certain quality assurance procedures.
Pay and benefits:
· £35,000 to £45,000k per annum dependent upon experience
· Full time contract, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
· Countryside-based head office, within walking distance of mainline train station
· On site car parking
· Excellent opportunities to train and progress
· 33 holiday days per year (inc. bank holidays)
· Contributory pension scheme
· Annual staff events, such as the Big Summer Party and awards scheme
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
· Investigating/recording incidents, accidents and complaints
· Undertaking risk assessments and site inspections
· Ensuring equipment is installed correctly/safely
· Identifying potential hazards
· Production of in-house policies and reports
· Prepare monthly health and safety performance and activity reports to an agreed format
· Drawing up safe operational practices and making necessary changes
· Presentations to staff/managers
· Provision of health and safety meetings and training courses for employees
· Keeping up-to-date and ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation.
Qualifications & Skills:
· National Examination Board in Occupational Safety & Health (NEBOSH) basic qualification or equivalent
· Calm, patient and assertive
· Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills
· Excellent computer skills are critical specifically MS Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
· High attention to detail
· Capable of acquiring and applying detailed legal, technical and regulatory information.
· Experience/qualification in quality assurance procedures and certification, such as ISO:9001, is advantageous, but not necessary.
