Property Claims Technician
£25,000 - £35,000 ( Flexibility available depending on experience)

Barker Munro Recruitment has an interesting new role within an expanding Global Insurance for a Property Claims Technician to provide a full claims handling function to the business in the UK.
You will be responsible for the effective management/handling of predominantly high value, commercial claims plus residential and lender title insurance claims throughout the UK, providing expert advice to the business on the merit of these claims.
The role will enable you to take full ownership of the claim from initial notification through to final settlement, providing a high level of customer service to our clients. You will ensure that reserves are accurately set and maintained throughout the life of each claim.
You will instruct solicitors on claims as required, assist with investigation and processing of claims to establish the potential liability and deal with claims appropriately ie by dismissal, negotiation or settlement. You will identity and handle exception items, participate in the resolution of problems/issues accordingly and liaise effectively with both internal and external stakeholders ensuring they are kept up to date.
In addition to handling technical referrals, you will assist the Claims Manager in increasing the technical ability within the team through coaching and training. You may be required to travel throughout the UK on occasions.
To succeed in this challenging role you will have considerable experience in claims negotiation and/or property litigation within either a legal department, solicitors firm or insurance company. Full training will be provided on this specific insurance risk. Importantly you will be adept at policy interpretation with a good knowledge of the application of the principles of insurance.
You will be capable of developing and applying expert technical knowledge to issues, possess excellent problem solving and analytical skills along with a high attention to detail and the ability to organise and prioritise a varied and busy workload often within tight deadlines. Proven negotiation and decision making skills are essential.
As you will be interfacing with all levels of staff, clients, panel solicitors and brokers, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Independent and able to work on your own initiative, you will also have the ability to function effectively in a team environment.
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including outlook, word and excel is required plus ideally experience of an electronic case management system.
