Support Worker - Adult Learning Disabilities
Lympne - near Hythe
Permanent - 37.5 hours per week
Up to £17,500 - £18,500 per annum


Company/Organisation:
One of the country's largest learning disability charities are seeking support workers in the Lympne area. Highly regarded across the sector they have achieved the Skills for Care 'centre of excellence' provider status. They are currently recruiting across two supported living settings in the Lympne area and support adults with learning disabilities to live their best possible life.

Role:
You will work within a friendly team offering care to adults with complex learning difficulties. There are two settings in Lympne; one is a 4 bed mixed gender setting with adults requiring 1:1 care in the setting and 2:1 in the community; the other setting is female only with 2:1 care as such there will be no lone working in this setting. As part of your role you will be required to give, prompt and assist with personal care. Due to the complex needs of the residents you may have to deal with challenging behaviour. Everything you do in your daily duties will enable service users to have/make choices about their own lives creating a flexible service that meet's each individual's needs.

Shifts:
AM shifts: 7:30am-3pm and 10am-3pm
Long Day shift: 10am-7pm
PM shifts: 3pm-9pm and 3pm-10pm
Sleep ins: 10pm-7:30am
You will be expected to work every other weekend, rotas are completed 6 weeks in advance allowing you to make provisions for your personal time.

Skills/Experience required:

* A minimum of 1 years experience within a similar care setting in the last 2 years
* Experience and willingness to provide personal care when required (helping to wash, toilet, dress and assisting with meals).
* Experience in administering medication, preparing meals and planning and partaking in activities
* Experience with providing support and care to adults with learning disabilities.
* Ideally you will drive due to the nature of the role
* NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 are desirable but not vital - you will be given the opportunity to gain these during employment.
* The sensitivity required to provide a trusting and stimulating environment along with being passionate about supporting people.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to be a good team player
* A genuine desire to make a real difference in people's lives
* You will be positive and willing to create and follow a personalised service to every individual that you support.
* Be available to support in whatever capacity is required by an individual to nurture their path to independence.
