Support Worker - Residential
Ashford - surrounding areas
Permanent - 40 hour week
£17,160+ per annum plus shift and service allowances


Organisation/Company:
This Kent and Sussex based charity trust have been operating for nearly 40 years. They have residential facilities dotted around the Kent and Sussex area. They currently support over 100 individuals across the trust to promote independent lifestyles. The organisation predominantly support adults with learning disabilities and complex physical disabilities. They are currently looking to recruit Support Workers to three small residential homes based in the country in the surrounding Ashford area.

Role:
To support residents with both physical and learning disabilities and complex needs living in a residential care setting. You will support individuals in all aspects of their day to day lives and work, by giving and assisting with personal care, promoting opportunities to develop a lifestyle that supports their individual needs and choices, promote independence and encourage fulfilment of personal goals. Support residents in developing and maintaining life skills as appropriate and personal safety including supporting transition training to other homes where appropriate.

Skills/Experience:

* Previous experience as a Support Worker within a setting supporting adults with learning disabilities and ideally physical disabilities is a must.
* Experience caring for/supporting individuals with complex needs
* Must hold a full UK manual driving licence and be aged 21 or over - due to potential driving requirements as part of the role
* Beneficial if you hold an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care
* The sensitivity required to provide a trusting and stimulating environment along with being passionate about supporting people.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to be a good team player
* A genuine desire to make a real difference in people's lives
* You will be positive and willing to create and follow a personalised service to every individual that you support.
* Be available to support in whatever capacity is required by an individual to nurture their path to independence.
* You will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure, an employment background check, satisfactory references, and verification of right to work in the UK as part of the recruitment process.
