Fixed Term Support Worker - 3 Months

HOURLY RATE: - £10.25

HOURS - 21 hours guaranteed with extra hours available

ADDITIONAL CASUAL SHIFTS PAID AT THE FOLLOWING HOURLY RATES:-

Day Services - £9.00

Residential and Supported Living - £10.25

Waking Nights £11.00

Sleep Ins - £60 per night

SHIFTS: Varying shift patterns depending on the service and cover required.

LOCATION: Medway

About the Role:

This role has been put in place to support our current staff team. Adding an extra layer of support to cover vacancies, sickness and annual leave.

We want to ensure all our staff get the support and rest they deserve at this time.

This role will play a vital part in ensuring that our services run smoothly and safely. Utilizing your flexibility, passion and skills across all our services, working alongside our current Support Workers.

The role will be helping our residents with their day to day lives, encouraging them to live as independently as possible, this is a personally rewarding role where you can build on your skills and experience, whilst delivering exceptional care and support to our service users and their families.

Having a background in supporting people with Autism in a previous role within a social care environment is desirable, although it isn\'t essential. What is essential is that you understand that autism can be complex and challenging and that each person we support is unique.

About the services in this area:

In Canterbury, Ashford, and Swale we have 2 Day Services, 3 Residential Homes, 1 respite centre, and 1 Supported Living Service in this area, supporting people with autism, learning disabilities and related difficulties such as epilepsy, communication difficulties and challenging behaviours.

Some of the great activities we have in our area include our own allotment, regular activities in the local community such as bowling, horse riding, swimming, therapy sessions, trampoline sessions, and visits to places of interests. Other activities include talking walks to the local seafront of countryside locations, swimming, and communal activities such as BBQs and themed Parties.

We provide a non-aversive, person centred approach to all the people we support. Come and be part of our fantastic team!

Tasks / Responsibilities of a Support Worker:

The Support Worker role may include but not be limited to:

o Support individuals within the community in activities such as bike rides, long walks and shopping,
o Uphold their privacy, confidentially and dignity
o Assisting individuals with personal care and hygiene
o Administering medication
o Household management tasks cooking, cleaning etc.
o Handle money to shop, going to the bank etc
o Working with individuals who can display challenging behaviours hurting self or others, running away, throwing things, swearing, shouting.
o Working with and supporting individuals with additional needs, such as epilepsy, pica, learning disabilities.
o To form good working relationships with other members of staff across different services.
o May include lone working
o Ensuring written records are correctly maintained
o Drive an individuals mobility car or service vehicle Manual Licence required (Optional)

o Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion
o Form good working relationships with other members of staff
o A commitment to continuous personal development and learning.
