The School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Mathematics to join its Mathematics group which currently has 17 permanent academic staff. The Mathematics group has a broad range of research interests which include Algebra, Analysis, Integrable Systems, Mathematical Physics, and Topology.

The group is looking for an outstanding teacher who would like to further develop our world-class educational environment within our friendly and supportive community. The post holder will be expected to make a strong contribution to teaching and administration within the Mathematics group in the school and will be expected to participate in the delivery of all our existing programmes. We are looking to recruit a lecturer with expertise in Applied Mathematics who can contribute to the delivery of our Numerical Analysis modules.

As Lecturer in Mathematics you will:

undertake teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate students, including the development of new modules and providing support for student learning
reflect on practice and the development of own teaching and learning skills
supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students undertaking project work
collaborate with colleagues in the School on course development, delivery and assessment, taking on appropriate management and administrative responsibilities.

To succeed in this role you will have:

PhD in Mathematics or equivalent experience
possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established teaching programmes
research experience in Applied Mathematics
ability to engage the interest and enthusiasm of students and inspire them to learn.
