Support Worker

We are keen to hear from experienced staff and new to care staff. Experienced staff will already be working in the field of autism, learning disabilities or mental health care/support (£500 golden hello paid for 2 yearsplus specialist experience). We also have opportunities for new support workers committed to developing a specialism in autism care/support - full training provided.

SALARY: Up to £18,000 p.a. / £9.23 p.h. dependant on experience. Based on a 37.5hr week. Pro rata for part time.

HOURS: 37.5 per week

SHIFT: Two week rolling rota, including split shifts (7.30am to 10am then 3.45pm to 10pm) and long days (7.30am to 10pm).

WK 1 - Monday and Friday - Split Shift and Saturday - Long Day.

WK 2 - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - Split Shift and Sunday - Long Day

LOCATION: Perry\'s Close, Faversham

About the Support Worker Role:

As a Support worker you will help our residents with their day to day lives, encouraging them to live as independently as possible. Providing exceptional person-centred care. Building meaningful relationships with them, their families, and other professionals. Working within either our Residential, Supported Living or Day Services. Having a background in supporting people with Autism in a previous role within a social care environment is desirable, although it is not essential.

About the Service: Perrys Close

Perry\'s Close is a residential service located in Faversham. The building itself is unique, we have 6 on suite bedrooms as well as communal living and dining areas to suit the needs of our 6 residents. Age range varies from 23 to 60 years old. We have 5 male residents and 1 female. Some of our residents also have additional needs such as epilepsy, myotonic dystrophy, and support with personal care.

Activity wise, we often go to the cinema, bowling or we simply go for trips out to places such as Leeds Castle. We also have a wide range of indoor activities like cooking, baking, gardening and arts and crafts.

Tasks / Responsibilities of a Support Worker:

The Support Worker role may include but not be limited to:

o Support individuals within the community in activities such as bike rides, long walks and shopping,
o Uphold their privacy, confidentially and dignity
o Assisting individuals with personal care and hygiene
o Administering medication
o Household management tasks cooking, cleaning etc.
o Handle money to shop, going to the bank etc
o Working with individuals who can display challenging behaviours hurting self or others, running away, throwing things, swearing, shouting.
o Working with and supporting individuals with additional needs, such as epilepsy, pica, learning disabilities.
o To form good working relationships with other members of staff across different services.
o May include lone working
o Ensuring written records are correctly maintained
o Drive an individuals mobility car or service vehicle Manual Licence required (Optional)

o Promoting independence and choice
o Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion
o Form good working relationships with other members of staff
o A commitment to continuous personal development and learning.
