YARD & TRADE COUNTER SALES ASSISTANT

Overall Objective

You will participate in the effective and efficient running of our branch. This will involve maintaining the best level of service to both new and old customers.

You will need to use your organisation, dedication and enthusiasm for customer service to help maintain the yards high standards and efficiency. You will also need to operate a forklift truck to ensure our delivery drivers and customers get loaded and unloaded in a timely manner. A forklift licence would be of an advantage, however this is not essential as we can organise training for this. In addition to this you will be required to assist at the trade counter with producing sales documents and offering advice to our customers.

Job Description

The yard and trade counter assistant will be expected to perform any of the following tasks:
Unload, Handle, Transport and store materials safely and securely.
Assist customers to load their vehicles when required.
Assist our drivers in preparing, loading and unloading customers deliveries on our vehicles.
Assisting customers with any advice or queries.
Maintain high standards of material handling and stock control.
Ensure the yard is clean, tidy and free from hazards.
Continually promoting the company image of service and quality.
Use of forklift trucks and other handling equipment.
Preparing invoices and delivery notes at the trade counter.
Taking customer payments.

Education/Qualifications/Experience

Must have a good level of education e.g. City & Guilds, NVQ, and/or equivalent qualification as appropriate for the role. Good experience in a similar industry or work experience in a yard environment. Good computer skills.
