Lead Engineer
My Client, a renowned company within the Medical Industry are looking for a Lead Engineer to join their Crawley based team.
Responsible for the management and development of a team of engineers on an allocated shift pattern.
As part of the top level manufacturing team, this person will work alongside the Operations, Quality Assurance and Planning Departments in driving through the focus, teamwork and support required to ensure the delivery of all of the key manufacturing KPI's to world class standards.
As part of the senior engineering group, this person will contribute to the direction and strategy of the department and ensure excellent levels of communication between all shifts and sections of the department.
This is a Graded role to support the continuous development of an individual with the ambition to make a significant difference:
Grade 1. (Performance) At this level the Lead Engineer will take direct responsibility for a team of engineers and technicians, prioritizing workloads, whilst effectively delegating across the whole team ensuring machine performance and people development.
The team will be focused and be able to demonstrate a proactive approach to machine performance, working in line with all company procedures and ISO standards.
Leading by example, the Lead Engineer, as part of the manufacturing team, will ensure excellent communication between shifts and ensure that all of the engineering internal supplier requirements are fully delivered. They will also ensure the ongoing compliance of working practices and equipment in line with current Health and safety guidelines
Through analysis of data it is expected that the Lead Engineer will manage and drive the engineering team delivering continuous improvement in all areas of the department.
As part of the NCR and CAPA processes the Lead Engineer will take on the role of an "Assigned to" person completing investigations right through to the implementation of corrective and preventative actions, ensuring that issues are not repeated.
Grade 2. (People) At this level the Lead Engineer will take full responsibility for the development of the engineering team demonstrating improvement through people, process and product knowledge. They are expected to be delivering all of the requirements of Grade 1, but will also have created and implemented effective improvement and development pathways of all of their team. With clear visibility to improvement in performance the Lead Engineer will be able to show the level of improvement of the team and be able to present clearly justified projects of potential equipment or process improvement. In adopting Lean initiatives the Lead Engineer will be driving through projects and ideas that will drive out waste and improve the manufacturing performance.
Grade 3. (Improvement) At this level the Lead Engineer will take full responsibility for the continuous improvement of every area of machine performance and machine safety through the management of lean initiatives and effective data analysis. They are expected to deliver all of the requirements of Grade 1 and 2, but will also be able to demonstrate effective management of a team of self-motivated engineers and technicians working safely to improve high performing equipment in line or exceeding company KPI's and strategies.
Skills and Qualifcations
* Higher Level Engineering Qualification
* Worked in a Lean Manufacturing environment
* 10 years Engineering experience
* Experience in Fast moving production environment
* Leading a team of Engineers
* Experience in Automated Engineering
* Knowledge on PLC's, Pneumatics, pick and place robots
Shifts: 4 on 4 off shift 6am - 6pm
Salary: Competitive
