Due to continued business growth, Totally Natural Solutions require an enthusiastic and personable individual to join our Research and Development team in the manufacturing of hop extracts. The Development Chemist role will deliver and innovate R&D hop chemistry applied to brewing and beverage applications.
Requirements for Development Chemist
• Experience of working in R&D, product development and/or technical service in a relevant industry is required
• Candidates should be educated to degree level or equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Science or a similar science discipline
• Familiarity with laboratory practices associated with food and /or beverage science
• Instrumental analysis experience including GC-MS, HPLC
• Knowledge of key organic chemistry and process improvement through development
• Thorough knowledge of documentation and quality aspects
Responsibilities for Development Chemist
• Under the supervision of the Research and Development Manager, provide development of pipeline products to support realising new business opportunities in the field of hop extracts
• Carry out process development using techniques such as distillation, CO2 fractionation, enzyme reactions and classical organic chemistry to deliver results in accordance with agreed project objectives and timelines
• Assist with scale up production through laboratory experimentation, pilot scale-up, and commercial trials, to deliver successful new product introduction
• Collaborate with the Commercial Team as part of the commercialisation process of product development
• Prepare internal technical reports detailing results and readily share information to advance cross-functional teams
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations and publications
• Operate laboratory work ensuring compliance with the company's Health & Safety policy and other external regulations
• Maintain detailed records of all work done and prepare a monthly progress report
• A positive and committed attitude
