We are currently working with an international manufacturing business with clients based in the UK, US, Europe, The Middle East, Africa, and the Far East.

Due to ongoing growth, they are currently seeking an Engineering Design Manager who will be responsible for the day to day management, operation, and development of the technical office. This role requires a proven mechanical/production engineer with the leadership skills, motivation, drive and experience to lead a team in the design, development, and reconfiguration of a range of bespoke and standard products.

Responsibilities of the Engineering Design Manager will include:

Provide technical/engineering support and advice to the production and sales departments and to other companies in the group where appropriate.

Design, develop and manage production processes.

Maximise profitability by delivering cost reduction and greater efficiency.

Providing product design and development resources to support local and group strategy including the realisation of new products.

Lead the technical design team, scheduling work and resources.

Design, reconfigure, draw and develop specialist products.

Ensure that H&S is met.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

HNC, degree or equivalent in engineering.

Experience using 3D CAD preferably AutoDesk Inventor.

Knowledge of the H&S requirements of the Machinery Directive (CE marking).

Knowledge of ISO9001.

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Best practice knowledge of Engineering Project Management and Quality Systems.

Mechanical engineering design experience.

A good knowledge of manufacturing, sheet metal, and fabrication techniques.

Very strong technical and execution capabilities with the ability to solve technical problems.

Benefits include - pension, flexible benefits (approximately £750 per year subject to tax deductions) which is paid after 3 months and increases by £400 after 5 years. £10,000 Life Assurance and holiday is standard statutory holiday but increases by 1 day per year up to 5 years. They also offer a millennium holiday so every 10 years, our employees are given an extra two weeks off work and encouraged to add this to their standard holiday so they take a complete break (month off) work.
