Production Supervisor - Sewing -Sheerness - Days - Monday to Friday 0800 - 1700

Job purpose

The primary objective is to ensure all production targets are met, whilst maintaining the company’s strict quality policy; Uphold Quality, Health Safety and Environmental standards; Implements and embeds improvements and controls the performance, attendance, and productivity of operatives in designated area.
Duties and responsibilities
• Organise the workforce; ensure the shop floor is set up correctly for the day’s production.
• Run a start of shift meeting with the team.
• Ensuring production targets are met, whilst challenging current targets for improvement.
• Inputs to skills matrix for own team – schedules and assists in training of operatives.
• Enforce strict safety guidelines, ensuring all operatives are wearing the correct PPE for and minimizing hazards in area of responsibility.
• Ensures performance of staff, including employee relations activities-day to day management of staff, control of holiday rota, manages absence, conducts return to works/investigations/disciplinary hearings.

Pre requisites
• Leads from the front, resilient and ready willing and able to have difficult conversations and set the bar high for performance.
• Good understanding of manufacturing – an understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles and or sewing-based production would be an advantage.
• Sees the potential in people and seeks to develop staff to meet business need for skills.
• Basic IT skills – Excel and Outlook
• Clear and robust communicator.
• Passionate about improving processes.
• Able to lead and gain the respect of a diverse team.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills (Excel, and Outlook) - familiarity with MRP systems would be an advantage
• Minimum 1 year work experience performing cell/team leading or supervisory duties.
• Proven success in employee performance, conduct and attendance management, both formal and informal.
