We are looking to appoint an additional Support Worker to join our team at Holly and Ivy Cottages, Woodchurch, TN26 3RJ. About Us:

Canterbury Oast Trust takes pride in providing good quality care and support for adults with learning disabilities across Kent and East Sussex. We provide long-term accommodation and care, based in small family style homes. The ethos of all our homes is to support independence, dignity, choice and achievement by helping people to live the lives they choose.

Holly cottage is home to 5 adults aged between 35 and 63 with Ivy Cottage being home to 4 adults aged between 43 and 64 with mild to moderate learning disabilities together with age related health conditions. The cottages are adjacent to each other within the grounds of Highlands Farm, Woodchurch.

About the Role:

As a Support Worker for adults with learning disabilities you will provide good quality care and support to the adults based on their needs through a person-centred approach.

This is a full time role of 162.5 hours per month and you will be required to work on a rota basis of mixed shifts including sleep-ins and 12 hour days; weekends and bank holidays. You will provide personal care to both male and female service users with a variety of needs including down syndrome, autism and diabetes.

You will support them in their day to day activities within the community as well as providing a safe and supportive environment that enables individuals to feel valued, reach their potential and nurture their aspirations.

As a Support Worker you will ideally need:

o An appreciation of the needs of people with learning disabilities
o To be considerate, patient, self-motivated, enthusiastic, respectful, non-judgemental and professional
o To be flexible as hours include short days, long days, weekends and sleep-ins as rostered
o Sound interpersonal skills
o Good verbal and written communication skills plus basic IT and report writing skills
o Qualifications are not required as you will have the opportunity to undertake your Care Certificate at COT during your induction period and then work towards your NVQ2/Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care Qualification within 18 months of commencement
o To hold a driving licence due to our rural location and the requirement to take service users to their activities, appointments etc
