Howletts & Port Lympne Wild Animal Parks is part of a charity based organisation committed to protecting rare and endangered animals from extinction through captive breeding and re-introduction programmes.

The horticulture department at Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve have a permanent vacancy for an experienced gardener.

Working with a small team, the job holder will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of our grounds and gardens at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park. Duties will mainly include looking after the accommodation areas and could include maintenance of Herbaceous, shrub and mixed borders, interior flower displays, extensive annual borders, glasshouse duties, hedge cutting, cleaning and weeding paths, steps and walkways, extensive and mature collection of climbers, baskets, tubs and urns and maintenance of the parks lawns.

Qualifications are an advantage but not essential for this role as experience of similar work will also be taken into account. You must have a good level of physical fitness with good general horticultural knowledge and the ability to work well unsupervised or as part of a team. A valid driving licence is essential as you will be driving company vehicles. We are looking for someone who is motivated, enthusiastic and flexible and happy to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

The role is 40 hours per week worked 5 days out of seven. Working hours are 7:30am – 4:00pm and will include weekends and bank holidays.
