The Scheme has a vacancy for a Housing Support Worker on the 5pm - 9pm shift, who will be responsible for the delivery of the Wellbeing Service (24 hour emergency response service) during their contracted hours and the evening events and activities programme.

The post holders principal responsibilities include responding to emergency calls from tenants and leaseholders, contributing to the programme of evening activities, supporting individual tenants and leaseholders to sustain their tenancies/leases and ensuring the scheme is safe.

The ideal Housing Support Worker will demonstrate

o A caring and compassionate approach
o Patience and understanding of older people
o Evidence of competence to undertake the post
o Housing (or similar) experience in the voluntary, public or private sectors
o Strong commitment to non-discriminatory housing services and to providing excellence
o Willingness to undertake training
o Efficient and effective administrative skills
o Strong customer focus
o Honesty, trustworthiness, reliability and respectfulness.
o An understanding of Health and Safety
o Good IT skills, so they can facilitate and support improvements to services, good communications and useful Management Information
o Good communication and negotiation skills with different groups, e.g. staff, residents, local community
o Understanding of different values / cultures of residents and staff
o Team working skills
o Good timekeeping skills
o Professionalism


The ideal Housing Support Worker will have the ability to:

o Play an active role in creating a good environment
o Prioritise their work
o Be aware of the support needed by others, consider how they can support them and encourage and support them
o Recognise and work to meet where possible the diverse and unique needs of each tenant
o Manage conflict
o Train for and take on additional responsibilities
o Listen carefully and attentively
o Respect the dignity and privacy of all those they come into contact with
o Apply their knowledge and training in the workplace
o Uphold the policies and procedures of The Organisation


Rapport Housing and Care offers Supported, Residential and Nursing Care to older people with physical frailty and Dementia across Kent.
