This is your chance to join Kent and Medway Medical School in pioneering a new era of responsive, student-centred medical education. As a Senior Lecturer/Lead, you will be an inspirational and influential role model for the next generation of medical professionals.
Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS) has been created to be a beacon for first-class medical education and research. Bringing together the resources of the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University, our whole ethos is one of partnership. The role of Senior Lecturer/Lead involves working in close collaboration with our programme, academic and administrative teams across both Universities, the education leads at our healthcare partners, and a wide range of external bodies.
The KMMS curriculum follows a spiral model, with students building on the principles and concepts taught year by year, increasing the depth and range of topics learnt. We are creating nine vertical themes that cut across the horizontal integration of basic sciences and clinical practice to introduce distinctive additional curricular elements. For each vertical theme, a mini spiral curriculum needs to be developed from existing learning outcomes as well as further opportunities for students to study these vertical themes in greater depth through student choice options. This model is central to our vision of producing graduates with the curiosity and the academic, professional and clinical skills to find global solutions to local challenges – multi-talented individuals whose training will have prepared them to lead, manage and innovate in 21st Century healthcare.
We can offer opportunities in the following areas at Senior Lecturer level:
Lead for Scholarship in Healthcare (0.3fte)
Lead for Medical Humanities (0.3fte)
Lead for Leadership Systems and Management (0.3fte)
Lead for Integrated Healthcare (0.3fte)
Lead for Innovation in Healthcare (0.3fte)
Lead for Patient Safety, Human Factors and Quality Improvement (0.3fte)
Lead for Ethics, Law and Professionalism, Human Rights, Equality and Diversity (0.5fte)
Lead for Clinical and Professional Skills (0.8fte)
In each case you will be making a major contribution to the development of relevant BMBS curriculum content, and in organising the teaching of your particular area. We are looking for enthusiastic innovators with a healthy attitude to change and new challenges, plus a co-operative approach that matches our own.
Whether you are clinically registered and practising or working in clinical and non-clinical roles in universities, you should have up to date medical education expertise in your area – ideally with further experience spanning student selection, curriculum design, assessment (including admissions), use of portfolios in medical education, electronic learning and assessment, and inter-professional learning and assessment.
Interviews will be held on 17 or 19 September 2019.
