Trainee Estimator Job Description
Report to and accountable to: Estimating Manager
The trainee Estimator will carry out varying roles and functions supporting the business. The scope of responsibilities vary from general administration duties, producing and updating clients and quotations and our internal information systems whilst ensuring smooth operations and administration services as required by TechniFire Solutions, its staff and clients.
TechniFire Solutions Ltd work as a team and the post holder should therefore have a strong team ethic and have the ability to work autonomously under their own initiative.
Duties and responsibilities:
General administration duties as required
Dealing with sales queries/enquiries
Compile, gather and produce information for quotations accurately
Produce quotations in line with business requirements
Keen to learn and develop industry knowledge of design requirements develop understanding of British Standards and codes of practice enabling progression
Produce monthly reports
Assist in producing and compiling tender documentation
Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with new and existing customers
Identifying extra work opportunities and sales lead generation of work (upselling)
Following through sales quotes and leads accordingly and effectively managing any queries
Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors gaining competitive pricing
Support the Estimations Manager in achieving high levels of customer satisfaction
Ensure all tasks have been completed in a timely, professional and detailed manner
Update internal systems and reports regularly
Update and produce reports on the above responsibilities
Industry training will be provided
Effective working relationships are an essential part of daily working life. The focus in this role is both:-
Internal: Directors, Managers, Engineers, Colleagues within the Company in all departments.
External: Client liaison, Face to face and telephone communications with Client Site Staff and Purchasers, Suppliers and Sub-Contractors.
These are illustrative duties and the post holder will be expected to become involved in a range of work to enable the company to respond effectively to the requirements of our Clients.
Good Education, minimum 5 A-C GCSE’s in maths and English or higher to A Level/equivalent standards (desirable)
Full driving license, Excellent administrative, customer service skills or sales experience, High level experience of Microsoft
Previous industry experience (desirable)
Trustworthy with respect and awareness of confidentiality
Ability to work from own initiative
Ability to work under pressure in a high paced environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail
