SECURITY CONSCIOUS PRISON ESCORT

Temporary Prison Escort Operational Support Grade (OSG) HM Prison Maidstone, Kent: Temporary Monday to Friday Contract.


Overview of the HMP Maidstone positions:
As the leading supplier to the HM Prison Service for the provision of support operatives, Hays is seeking to recruit Operational Support Grades (OSGs) for HMP Maidstone Kent.



Purpose of the OSG role:
As part of the security team you will be responsible for assisting in the safety and security of the establishment where your duties will include escorting visitors, building contractors, gate duties within the prison and outside areas. You will ensure the safety and security of the visitors, staff and prisoners within a Prison establishment, while persons from outside of NOMS are on site. You will also ensure that no unauthorised persons or items enter the establishment.
Kent Prisons have an excellent reputation as busy local prisons, which serve all the courts in the South East. They pride themselves in engaging and involving employees working alongside them in the process of change.


Shift Pattern: 39 hours per week working 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Pay rates are as follows: Monday - Friday £9.94ph.


Contractor Escort OSG:

Escorting contractors & vehicles around prison area
Searching visitors & contractors
Radio operation & handling
Supervision of visitors & contractors on site
Contractor Tool checks
Patrolling perimeter and grounds
Health & Safety Procedures
Routine administrative work


Experience:
No formal qualifications or previous experience is required for this role. However, applicants with security backgrounds are highly desirable.
The nature of the OSG role requires candidates to be security conscious and able to challenge potential compromises and risks, you will also need to be reliable and consistent, level headed and have exceptional interpersonal skills. Successful applicants will have a background in customer services or security, and will be assessed based on the following competencies: Acting with integrity, respecting others, Building relationships and team working, communicating effectively, developing self and others.
Full training is provided by the establishment/ department. Training time will be paid at the standard hourly rate.
