Improving the health and welfare of the Borough’s residents is an important role we take seriously. To help us achieve this aim we are looking for an enthusiastic and committed person to fill a Technical Officer Post that has become vacant due to retirement.
As part of a small team, you will assist in delivering grants to disabled persons to allow them to adapt their homes and live independantly and to provide loans to owners to bring their homes up to the decent homes standard. You will be required to survey homes and prepare schedules of work and inspect works for quality control and compliance with current regulations. You will also provide technical support to other officers.
You will have regularly contact with the public, and therefore you will need a strong customer focus with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing. Numeracy and good organisation and administration skills are essential along with a good working knowledge of using IT systems.
You must have a full driving licence and the use of a car for which an allowance is provided.
Experience of multi-trade disciplines including supervisory experience and a building qualification such as City & Guilds, ONC, NVQ 3 or equivalent is essential.
