The Duet Group is a specialised company providing leasing of musical instruments to schools, colleges, universities and conservatoires. The company also operates a “Rent to Buy” service for consumers to acquire musical instruments via an innovative online portal. Launched in 2017 this new online business is steadily growing with the objective to creative a strong UK brand.

We are seeking to recruit an experienced Part Time Credit Control & Debt Recovery Officer to join our small but dedicated team at our offices in Ashford, Kent. Although the current need for this debt management control service is minimal we are keen to establish this position within the company at this early stage to develop policy and set up robust procedures to manage arrears and debt collection as the online services grows year after year.

In addition to this our thought process has been led by a key part time staff member will be leaving on maternity leave later this year and it is our intention is for the new recruit to provide cover for this administration position over the next year alongside establishing a new robust credit and debt recovery policies within the company. It is vital that our new Credit Control & Debt Recovery officer fully understands every facet of our operation thus it would be hugely beneficial to undertake a year within the administration function of the company to develop a full understanding of our consumer agreements.

The administration duties required include processing consumer hire contracts, performing BACS processing, recording POS payments, providing a high level of customer service to consumers and retailers, maintaining records and general administration duties. An aptitude to quickly grasp the company’s systems will be essential, have an affable but clear manner when dealing with telephone enquiries, be willing and capable to get involved in one-off projects, a “can-do” attitude that is necessary when working as part of a very small but dedicated team and a fanatical approach to attention to detail.

As our Credit Controller, you will need to:
• Chase unpaid Direct Debits by telephone, email and letter
• Regularly make contact with arrears customers to ensure all debts are fully managed
• Advise customers on the payment or goods return option for debt recovery
• Handle each call promptly and in the correct manner, updating records accordingly
• Input customer related data accurately and efficiently into systems
• Explain the terms of contract condition as appropriate
• Decide on the correct action when negotiating payments
• Follow strict Company policies, ensuring that legislative requirements are met
• Prepare and submit Money Claim forms via the online service
• Day to day management of all new and existing Money Claim cases
• Instruct and manage enforcement procedures

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of three years’ experience within a credit control/consumer debt recovery role and be able to apply a mature approach to the detailed work we undertake.

This is a newly created part-time role of 24 hours a week and we would consider this being split over 3, 4 or 5 days and also the possibility to fit school hours. The salary is negotiable, depending on level of experience. The benefits include a company Healthcare Policy; excellent future prospects within our niche independent business. An interest in musical instruments would be nice but by no means essential.
