Are you a fun, active Support Worker who can work as part of a team and on your own initiative to a high standard that can make a difference in a teenager’s life?

You will be working as a Support Worker with a 16-year-old girl who loves music and stories and enjoys the company of her peers and spending quality time with her sister, pamper sessions or chilling out in her hydrotherapy pool, sensory room and garden.  She has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, receives her nutrition and liquids via a gastro-jejunal tube and requires support with all aspects of her daily life.  As a Support Worker your role may include working alongside other Support Workers who have worked with the client for a long time in a non-smoking household.

The Role

 

Tasks include supporting the client at home, occasionally at school and in the community with communication, accessing leisure and educational activities, implementing therapies, personal care and promoting her independence which is paramount.

Experience

 


1:1 experience of working with a child with a disability would be an advantage but a commitment to providing high standards of support and interaction in a caring and professional manner is essential.Confident swimmer.Willingness and ability to work shifts when away with the family on holiday.A full driving licence is required.Experience and a good working knowledge of gastrostomy and jejunal feeding is desirable, along with confidence in working with technology and working with visual impairment however training will be provided.
Hours

Day, evening and night shifts are available throughout the year.  Hours will vary from between 80 to 180 per calendar month, averaging over the year at approximately 130 hours per month.

This role will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
