An opportunity has arisen for Support Workers to join a small care team to look after a five-year-old boy with Cerebral Palsy, Dystonia, and complex physical and learning disabilities.
As a Support Worker you will ensure that his 7-year-old sister is able to interact and engage with him, together with his baby brother through the involvement of stimulating activities. He loves technology and playing games on the Ipad. He also loves the adrenaline of muddy walks and adores animals; the family home has a dog, cats, guineapigs, chickens and fish. This is a busy, fun and stimulating family environment with a true love of nature, crafts and music.
Working with children all Support Workers need to balance being a calm and gentle character, with being an entertainer and prepared to sing along to his favourite songs; he loves all types of music.
As part of the Support Worker role you will be required (training provided) to support with suctioning, peg feeding and drawing and administering medication in line with the MAR sheet. Working with the family who are very involved in the care of their son you will are required to hold a full driving licence due to the rural location and the requirement to take the client out on activities.
Hourly rates
Monday to Friday £12.00 per hour
Saturday & Sunday £14.00 per hour
Bank holidays £24.00 per hour
Support Worker shifts available:
Term Time
Tuesday & 1 other week day 14.30pm – 19.45pm
1 other week day 16.30pm – 19.45pm
Saturday 07.30am – 19.45pm
Non-Term Time
Tuesday & 2 other week days 09.30am – 19.45pm
Saturday 07:30am – 19:45pm
With additional hours being available to cover holiday and sickness throughout the year, and you could be required to accompany the family on their holidays overseas.
Experience & Qualities required for the role:
Ideally an experienced Support Worker who has experience of working with children with complex physical and learning disabilities.Excellent communication skillsThe understanding of working with a family and ensuring the interaction with siblingsCommitment to assisting the client in engaging in leisure activities and hobbies. Experience of peg feeding, suctioning and administering medication is desirable although training will be provided.Understanding of the need for close observation at all times monitoring health and well-being
