We have a vacancy for an experienced Front of House Function Manager to join our Hospitality Department. The department is responsible for the operational delivery of all hospitality events such as weddings, conferences, day meetings, dinners and banquets. The role is varied but the key tasks and responsibilities will include
• To undertake front of house management as required and to act as a point of contact for guests, ensuring a high degree of customer care is achieved at all times.
• To manage the front of house staff, ensuring a high standard of appearance and service is continually achieved.
• To be responsible for the presentation of all hospitality venues, making sure that furniture, fixtures and fittings, equipment and stock is maintained to a high standard.
• To be accountable for monitoring accurate stock levels and usage of toiletries, beverages and stationery in all hospitality venues.
• To regularly review the Booking Software to ensure that arrangements for forthcoming bookings are diarised and monitored.
• To attend a final detailed meeting with hospitality clients in advance of their event, thereby building relationship and confidence prior to the event.
• To ensure all conference facilities are set up as specified, commissioning IT support and portering resources as necessary to arrange rooms according to client wishes.
• To provide an unobtrusive yet supportive management presence during events, acting as the primary focus for clients and for staff on duty, fulfilling a ‘Butler’ role in welcoming and addressing the guests. This will include handling complaints and troubleshooting with sensitivity and tact, and exercising flexibility in responding to unexpected client requirements.
To succeed in this role, the person appointed will need to be an experienced functions manager. They will need exceptional high standards of appearance and good attention to detail. They will need to have the management skills required to lead a team of porters and front of house staff, getting the best out of the team. Strong communication skills are vital.
This is a seasonal position between April and October, working flexibly 40 hours each week ( although as you will already know from your own experience, running a successful event sometimes requires you to be on duty for long shifts). The job would require weekend working, at least three out of four weekends. Closing date is 29th March and interviews will be held on 9th April 2019.
