Direct Payment Case Worker - 21 hrs. per week

Salary Band D: £14,005 - £16,264 (FTE £24,676 - £28,655)

The Beams Direct Payment Service is part of a well established parent-driven charity working to support disabled children and their families as well as young adults up to the age of 25.

We are looking to recruit a Direct Payment Case Worker to work within our dedicated direct payment team. The successful applicant must have excellent numeracy skills as a major part of the role is to audit and reconcile local authority funding held in client accounts and to be able to identify anomalies and financial irregularities.

The service function is to assist potential clients to understand the nature and requirements of direct payments. To provide advice and assistance to families of disabled children and young adults who wish to employ staff to meet their support requirements. HR experience or a good knowledge of Employment rights would be beneficial, but training will be given.

If you have a proactive and positive work ethic, strong financial, organisational and communication skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, we would like to hear from you.

Although the service operates across the whole of Kent, the post-holder will be required to cover Swale and surrounding areas. This position is home-based. As visits to the client’s homes are required, the post-holder will need to live in the Maidstone, Sittingbourne, Faversham or Medway areas (to allow maximum of 30 minutes travel to appointments). A full, clean driving license and use of a car is essential.

Knowledge of direct payments is preferable but not essential as we will provide comprehensive training in this area.
