An exciting chance to join our established web design studio and welcoming close-knit team. Professional development, quarterly socials, 31 days paid holiday, flexible hours and working from home options. £23,000 - £25,000 depending on experience.

As part of our web development team, you'll be responsible for transforming our designs into dynamic, responsive, fully functioning websites, deploying to our various environments and helping ensure all our live sites keep running smoothly. Our designer Mike loves to push the boundaries, so you'll never get bored and have plenty of fresh challenges.

More than just a keyboard warrior, we’re looking for someone with passion and drive, who’s continually thinking about how to adapt and improve, who wants their ideas to be heard and actioned. Our team of seven is highly collaborative and supportive - more than just colleagues, we’re friends, and whilst we take our work seriously we have fun along the way.


KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS

You have good knowledge of HTML, CSS (or SASS), Javascript (ideally ES6 Javascript syntax), including using HTML5 to produce semantically meaningful markup.
You have a good knowledge of PHP, jQuery, using the terminal / BASH and how relational databases work.
You’re experienced with and have created custom themes for WordPress.
You use Git to keep projects under version control.
You’ve worked with APIs and can quickly digest how best to interact with a new interface
You’re familiar with the principles of Object Oriented Programming.
Ideally you have experience with task runners and build tools e.g. Grunt, Gulp, Webpack or similar.
You have experience with server management, e.g. Linux, SSH.
You have experience with DNS
You’re familiar with cross-browser/cross-device idiosyncrasies.
You have an analytical problem-solving ability to find the root cause.
You value writing clean, readable and reusable code.
You have high attention to detail and an eye for design.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To build brand new websites based on mockups and technical briefs
To update existing websites based on mockups and technical briefs
To thoroughly test your code – cross browser, device, UI, functionality
To problem solve, fix bugs and issues
To deploy to production and development servers
To improve and maintain existing code including refactoring old code
To document your code and maintain accurate records of changes
To deliver work on time and to the high standards we expect
To uphold excellent communication and collaboration standards with our team and clients
To help maintain and improve internal development systems, tools and processes

Founded in 2010 by husband and wife Aaron and Helen, Six Two are a web design agency based in Ashford, Kent. Our mission is to raise the bar of the web design industry through empowering over 10,000 businesses by 2023 to make better, more informed decisions about their website and digital strategy.

We plan, design, build, host, maintain and grow websites with a focus on quality for ambitious, collaborative SMEs in Kent, London and the South East seeking a proactive, trusted, long term website partner. Our core service is the creation of bespoke WordPress themes.

We’re a close knit team of 7, including our CEO Aaron, our COO Helen, our developer Ben (with whom you’d be working closely), our designer Mike, our project/ account managers Katie and Kathryn and our marketing apprentice Megan.
