Exciting opportunity for a Production Planning Manager with a key employer and global manufacturing client in the area where the main purpose of the role is efficient scheduling of production for a portfolio of production lines, using SAP in a busy and highly automated environment that operates on a 24/7 basis.
A good working knowledge of SAP production planning is essential together with experience gained within a FMCG or food environment.
Skills & Competencies we are seeking in an individual:
Ideally 2 years + experience in production planning
Experience in hands on production planning using SAP and previous experience in production or other areas of supply chain
The ability to streamline current processes and innovate to improve overall service
A proactive approach to tackling problems
The ability to manage your own time efficiently, prioritise and escalate issues in a timely manner
A team player who is keen to adapt and to contribute to the common goals of the department and business overall
Excellent communication skills particularly in written form and the ability to relay information clearly and succinctly to colleagues at all levels and external contacts to
High levels of numeracy and literacy
Good IT skills including Excel
The Production Planning Manager will be involved with:
The creation of running schedule and production orders, taking into account customer demand, inventory policies and factory efficiency
Control the packaging line plan and bulk plan to ensure customer orders are available and released for sale on time, working closely with the production management team to ensure compliance to the plan
Calling in chemicals and components to support the production line plan, using SAP generated vendor schedules and purchase orders, working to inventory policies
Efficient and timely management of MRP lists
Ensuring all stages of product lifecycle are fully managed, and supporting the end of lifecycle to minimise obsolescence and write offs
Cross function communication throughout
A strong customer focus
Responsibilities:
Produce a production plan for designated packaging lines and bulk processing, ensuring the most efficient use of resources, taking into account stock requirement dates
Smooth any peaks to ensure headcount is used effectively, escalating any peaks or trends that cannot be smoothed and that will cause capacity issues, inventory issues or overtime/shift working.
Generate necessary documentation to support the plan via SAP
Ensuring SAP is kept up to date at all times.
Contact suppliers to bring in materials in time to support the plans and expedite when necessary.
Timely and clear communication across functions
Relationship building throughout the business
