Transport Planner

£30000 - £32000 per annum + 21 Days Holiday, Free Parking

Dartford, Kent

We are currently recruiting for a permanent Transport Planner for a company based in the Dartford area. As the Transport planner you will be responsible for planning deliveries to retail outlets across UK and Ireland utilising all mediums of transport which includes utilising their own fleet, parcel carriers, pallet carriers, and 3PL.

The primary responsibilities for this role includes:

* Producing a timely plan that enables the warehouse team to pick/pack & dispatch in a timely manner
* To produce a delivery plan that effectively and efficiently manages the delivery operation from drivers leaving site to drivers returning to depot. Taking in consideration drivers' hours, vehicle costs, subcontractor costs and all relevant legislative requirements
* Calculation of drivers' hours
* Organise the collection of returned goods from customers to meet the company KPI's
* Review the planning operation process in conjunction with the Transport Manager to make the necessary changes to improve the planning process and the costs involved.
* Reviewing cost to serve and OTIF with the transport manager on a weekly basis and make recommendations where appropriate
* Providing statistical data to evidence performance of function
* Ensuring a safe working environment, adhering to health, safety and environmental procedures and ensuring they are understood and always practised.

For this role you will need the following:

* Extensive knowledge of the UK road network
* Experience within a FMCG transport environment
* Understanding of cost to serve
* Good communications skills
* Attention to detail
* Good understanding of the Working Time Directive & EU Drivers Hours
* Able to work to tight deadlines
* Able to prioritise workload and work to tight deadlines
* Good IT skills

The hours of work are a rotating shift patter which is Monday to Friday 10am - 7pm, 12pm to 9pm.
