Job Role: Senior Marine Claims Broker

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000

Location: Hybrid - Home/ London



A large Lloyd's Broker is looking for a Senior Marine Claims Broker to join their team in London on a hybrid working basis. The purpose of the role is to handle Marine Ports & Terminals, Liability, Marine Hull and Protection and Indemnity claims from first advice to final settlement.



Main Duties:

* Create entries and update financial records on relevant system(s).
* Liaise with and advise Clients on claims procedures.
* Liaise with Adjusters and/ or Lawyers on claims.
* Liaise with colleagues and (re)insurers on claims.
* Negotiate settlement of claims with (re)insurers and their advisers, including face to face meetings.
* Draft and send standard correspondence.
* Draft and send non-standard correspondence, ensuring that these are checked by senior colleagues.
* Answer the telephone, using own judgement on the referral of callers to a senior colleague and ensuring that information given is accurately recorded.
* Make written records of all conversations with customers and/or Insurers, or other relevant business contacts, in accordance with the firm's procedures manual.
* Complete cheque and/ or requisitions and liaise with Accounts for the same.
* Develop strategy to deal with complex claims
* Attend client and market meetings as necessary
* Liaise with the placing teams and provide advice on improvements to coverage.
* Deal with claims payments within designated authority



Key Skills/ Requirements:

* Previous experience of working in a senior Marine Claims role.
* Good knowledge of London Market information technology systems CLASS, ECF, IMR etc.
* Good understanding of Financial Crime, ABC, AML, & Sanctions legislation.
* Prioritise and organise own workload to ensure that deadlines are adhered to.
* Develop and sustain relationships with Clients, Insurers and colleagues.
* Excellent negotiation and strategic thinking skills
* Confident and effective telephone and IT skills.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal.
